Introduction to the Course

Excel for Data Analytics introduces participants with little-to-no statistical or software expertise to basic statistical and visualization tools using the intuitive and popular features in Microsoft Excel, such as Functions, Charts, and PivotTables. The course covers data processing to regression modelling with varying degrees of complexity and requires much more advanced skills to manage. This course aims to enhance your expertise in Excel to the highest level and ensure a comprehensive understanding of all the advantageous features Excel can off your workplace.

Topics Covered

This course covers the data analysis tool in Microsoft Excel to help in making better decisions. This course provides from basic operations such as reading data into excel using various data formats, organising, and manipulating data, to various advanced functionality of Excel. Other topics include how to perform data analysis and reporting using the most popular features in Excel, such as pivot table, data model and regression. Towards the end, an introduction to the automation processes in Excel using Visual Basic for Applications will be carried out.

Instructors

Emmy Farha Alias

Emmy Farha Alias (Emmy) is a senior research officer at the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She earned her Master of Science (Agricultural Development Policy) in 2014 and Bachelor of Engineering (Computer and Communication Systems) in 2006, both from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She has conducted research in the areas of food security, commodity modelling, system dynamics, competitiveness of food sector, energy use in agriculture, and agricultural policy and development. She is experienced in developing various analytical tools for forecasting and simulating the impact of changes of macroeconomic variables or policy options.

Nur Azreen Mokhyi

Azreen is an Economist at the Centre for Future Labour Market Studies (EU-ERA). She studied Statistics at the University of Technology Mara (UiTM) and currently pursuing her Master of Science (MSc.) majoring in Economics from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Her research interests include employment trends and labour market information. She was actively involved in various research projects and publications in her research.
