Yusof is an Associate Professor at the School of Business and Economics at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Recently, Yusof has seconded to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE), United Arab Emirates as a Chief Labor Market Economist cum economic advisor to the HE Minister. Prior to the appointment, Yusof was the Chief Economist of the Centre for Future Labour Market Studies, a collaborative center between Social Security Organisation and Universiti Putra Malaysia Consultancy & Services, established to strengthen the labor policy analysis of the government and the Ministry of Human Resources. The highest recognition in his career at national level when he had been appointed and seconded to the Secretariat of Economic Action Council (EAC) of the Prime Minister’s Department from April to June 2020. Yusof is also one of the prominent speakers and writers in the Malaysian news and media.
Yusof holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands and a MSc Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has written extensively on issues related to development economics with specific applications of input-output, social accounting matrix (SAM) and applied general equilibrium models.
