Summary
Relating the loss of employment and various lockdown measures in Malaysia is an important endeavour to uncover the magnitude of the impact of these measures on the number of job losses during the COVID-19 pandemic between 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020. We investigate the nonlinear impact of lockdown measures on the loss of employment, meaning that as lockdown measure intensifies, loss of employment increases, but at some turning point as lockdown measure relaxes, the loss of employment reduces. In other words, the lockdown measures exhibit an inverted U-shape curve with the loss of employment in Malaysia.
